What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is “Constantly Varied functional movements performed at high intensity”.
What does this mean? As far as the workouts go, these are a combination of constantly varied functional movements that will help you be better at LIFE! Movements like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running, jumping, and so much more, which will help you in every aspect of your lives. Want to be able to play with your kids without getting tired? Or carry your own suitcases when you travel? How about wanting to be able to go for a hike on the weekend without getting out of breath, or finally get your back stronger so you can rid yourself of that niggling back pain? We’re here to help you with all of that, whilst having a blast!
You will not see rows of treadmills, stationary bikes and weight machines. Instead you will find kettlebells, pull-up bars, barbells and wide open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing – moving your body the way it is meant to be moved.
All your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mirror movements you might perform in day-to-day life or in sport. We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities. You would never bicep curl your child when you’re trying to pick them up, so why should you do that in the gym?
At CrossFit Brit you will never get bored. Although our program is constantly varied it is not random. We use tried, tested and proven principals of strength and conditioning with periodization. In other words, we don’t make it up as we go along.
